Drama as Tinubu moves APC NEC meeting to Aso Rock Villa
A mild drama played out yesterday, the eve of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, following the decision of President Bola Tinubu to relocate the meeting earlier scheduled for Buhari House, the national headquarters of the party, to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The sudden decision to move the meeting billed came as a surprise to many stakeholders that saw the dismantling of the big tent that they had started erecting on Tuesday evening.
The party, in a statement announcing the last minute change in venue by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, hinged the decision on logistical reasons.
The party has equally expressed shock over the death of its long serving secretariat staff, Mr. Abraham Olu.
The statement mourning his death read: “The APC is deeply saddened by the death of a long serving member of staff at its National Secretariat, Mr. Abraham Olu, who died on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Until his passing, he was a resourceful Organising Officer of the Organising department of our great party.
“He joined the APC from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as a foundation staff, following the merger in 2013. Born on April 4, 1966, Mr. Olu, who hailed from Kogi State, was married with children. He will be sorely missed for his diligence and thoroughness in the discharge of his duties.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, colleagues and staffers of the national secretariat of our great party during this difficult time. May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest. Amen,” the statement mourning his read.
