Ex-Oyo Senatorial Candidate Faozey Dumps Accord Party

The Oyo Central Senatorial candidate of the Accord political party in the 2023 general election, Engineer Faozey Nurudeen has resigned his membership from the party.

Faozey announced his resignation from the party through a statement sighted by LEADERSHIP in Ibadan on Thursday, informing that he will disclose his choice of next political party soon.

“To this effect, I have forwarded my resignation letter to the ward chairman of Accord (Pakoyi/Idode, Ward 10, Oyo West Local Government Area, Oyo State), and all the necessary steps have been taken to affirm my intentions and actions,” Faozey said in the statement.

He said one of his intentions in politics is to create indelible imprints in the lives of the masses, noting that such cardinal and lofty principle can only be achieved when thoughts are astutely blended with pragmatic actions among like-minded politicians.

“During the last general election, I contested as the senatorial candidate of the Accord for Oyo Central Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly. To the glory of God, the people of my district believed in my ability to represent them well, and they voted for me.

“As a personality of astute and shrewd principles, I believe that political platforms (parties) play significant roles in a candidate’s electoral success. Therefore, there is a need for swift realignment and synergy,” he said.

The Oyo-born politician stressed that, “Efforts are in top gear towards aligning with a new political party with a broader platform and reach. On a yet-to-be-announced date, these efforts will culminate in my open declaration of membership in a new political party.

“All my supporters, including my entire political structure, will be mobilised to strengthen further the party in the Oyo Central Senatorial District and the State.”

Faozey thanked the leaders and members of his former party as well as his supporters for the privilege offered him to contest on the party’s platform in the 2023 general election.
