Just In: INEC Fixes Date For 2027 Presidential Election
Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced February 20, 2027, as the date for the country’s next presidential election.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this during a press briefing held in Abuja on Friday, stating that the commission has commenced early preparations for the nationwide exercise.
According to Amupitan, the presidential and National Assembly elections will be conducted simultaneously on February 20, 2027.
He further stated that the National Assembly elections would hold on the same date, while governorship and state assembly elections would follow on March 6, 2027.
Amupitan added that the commission was fully prepared for the exercise.
