The Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has condemned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over his handling of the recent recruitment process.
The union is calling for his removal due to what they claim is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
According to the union, the police’s statement last Saturday alleging corruption and irregularities in the recruitment process was false and intended to discredit the exercise.
The Joint Union Congress, which represents the workers of the PSC, has therefore urged President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action and relieve IGP Egbetokun of his duties.
The union’s chairman, Adoyi Augustine Adoyi, stated that the IGP’s actions are against the ethical standards expected of him as a police officer, and that they could lead to chaos and confusion in the country.
The union is demanding accountability and transparency in the recruitment process, and is calling on the government to ensure that those responsible for any wrongdoing are held accountable.
