President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shetima, has inaugurated the 76.67km Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso road, renamed the Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Highway, in Oyo State.
The road is a significant infrastructure development project that connects communities within the state and links to another geo-political zone in Nigeria.Speaking at the event, Tinubu commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his efforts in developing infrastructure in the state, stating that Nigeria’s progress is dependent on the development of individual states.
The President also assured support for agricultural development in Oyo State.Governor Makinde, in his speech, emphasized the importance of road infrastructure in fostering development.
He highlighted the success of his administration’s initiatives to build roads that connect all five zones of the state, stating that good roads lead to development.
The governor also revealed plans to construct the 48km Ido-Eruwa road within the next eight months and the development of an industrial hub in Eruwa.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak; Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal; former First Lady of Oyo State, Mutiat Ladoja; acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum; and others.Makinde’s administration has been focused on building roads that interconnect all zones of the state, with a mantra that “where the road goes, development follows.”
The governor has stated that his administration’s efforts have led to a reduction in the state’s infrastructural deficit and an increase in economic development.
