Two Robbery Suspects Sustain Severe Injuries Attempting Escape from Court

Two robbery suspects, aged 27, suffer life-threatening injuries after leaping from a two-storey building in a bid to evade authorities at an Ibadan Magistrate Court.

Held in Agodi Correctional Centre since 2023, the suspects, awaiting trial, underestimated the height of the court building, resulting in a heavy landing on the concrete below.

One suspect’s skull reportedly fractured upon impact, while the other suffered spinal cord injuries, leaving them incapacitated and in pain.

Despite immediate medical attention, their escape attempt foiled, and with handcuffs on, they were swiftly transported by prison officials.

The court, albeit briefly distracted, adjourned the case to July 8, 2024.
