Oyo University expels students over colleague’s death

Ajayi Crowther University announced on Saturday that it had expelled several students involved in a deadly altercation.

The incident, which resulted in the death of a student, was reportedly sparked by accusations that the deceased had stolen a mobile phone.

The university clarified that the expelled students were not linked to any cult group, countering circulating rumors.

The institution emphasized its strict zero-tolerance policy toward anti-social behavior and misconduct.

In an official statement, the university detailed the events leading to the tragedy: “The deceased was alleged to have stolen a mobile telephone. Instead of reporting the matter to the university management, the expelled students acted on their emotions, resulting in the unfortunate death of the student.”

Ajayi Crowther University has handed over all involved individuals to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation, ensuring that justice will be pursued.
