Seven Dead in Ibadan-Iseyin Road Accident, FRSC Confirms

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the deaths of seven individuals in a road accident that occurred on the Ibadan-Iseyin road on Thursday evening.

According to Mr. Mayowa Odewo, the Public Relations Officer of the FRSC’s Oyo Sector Command, the deceased included five male adults, one female adult, and one female child. Out of the 22 people involved in the crash, 15 sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Odewo attributed the accident, which involved a Nissan Urvan commercial bus (registration number: SEY 254 ZY) and a Mazda commercial bus (registration number: LGB 343 XA), to speed violations and driver fatigue.

He stated that the injured victims, including three male adults, nine female adults, and one female child, were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Of the seven deceased, four bodies have been claimed by their families, while the remaining three have been deposited at a morgue.

“The police from the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) at Moniya, Ibadan, have taken possession of the two crashed vehicles, along with bags and other valuables recovered from the victims,” Odewo said.

He urged motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations and to adhere to traffic warnings to prevent avoidable accidents.
