Scores of Dangote Cement workers allegedly kidnapped in Edo

Suspected kidnappers have reportedly abducted an unspecified number of staff from Dangote Cement Company Plc in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to reports, the abduction took place on Monday after the close of work, as the workers were traveling back to Okpella community in a Coaster bus.

A source within the community, speaking to reporters, alleged that the gunmen, who had laid ambush, emerged from the bush and halted the bus at gunpoint before taking the victims into the bush.

Confirming the incident, the source stated, “Yes, they were in a Coaster bus coming to Okpella when they were kidnapped by gunmen. But we don’t know the number of the workers that have been kidnapped.”

As of press time, there was no official confirmation from the authorities of the Edo State Police Command. Calls and text messages to the State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, and the Public Relations Officer of the command, Chidi Nwabuzor, remained unanswered.
