Osun monarch backs Ajao Samson’s bid to break Guinness World Record on longest reading marathon

The Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesaland, Osun State, Oba Micheal Ajayi, on Thursday extended his support to Ajao Samson, also known as Impeccable, in his bid to break the Guinness World Record for the longest reading marathon. 

Samson, a former Students’ Union President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, embarked on a 214-hour Read-a-Thon at Adolak Conference Hall in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Monday, May 6, and is expected to conclude on May 14, 2024.

Earlier, the wife of the Governor of Osun State, Ngozi Adeleke, and the Coordinator of Imole Youth Corps from the Osun State Ministry of Youth Affairs, Chief Johnson Oyedele, also visited Ajao to offer their encouragement. 

The current record for the longest marathon reading aloud is 124 hours, achieved by Rysbai Isakov of Kyrgyzstan in Bursa, Turkey, from September 22 to 27, 2022.

Isakov read the “Manas epic,” a legendary tale of a 10th-century Kyrgyz hero, which holds significant cultural and spiritual value for the Kyrgyz people.
