Misinformation Clarified: Aliko Dangote University Mourns Student’s Untimely Passing

Tragedy struck the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State, with the untimely demise of Aishat Yahaya Olabisi, a dedicated 300-level student majoring in Food and Science Technology, found lifeless in her off-campus accommodation.

The heartbreaking incident occurred shortly after Olabisi returned from participating in her first examination of the ongoing first-semester exams.

While initial reports suggested a link between her passing and academic pressures, the university’s management swiftly moved to address misconceptions surrounding the tragic event.

In a statement released by Prof. Abdulkadir Dambazau, the Dean of Students Affairs, titled “Clarification Regarding False Statement About Student’s Death,” the university refuted claims circulating in certain media outlets. Contrary to reports, Olabisi did not meet her end within the university’s student hostel. Instead, she peacefully passed away in her sleep at her off-campus residence on April 23, 2024.

According to the statement, Olabisi had spent her final evening immersed in her studies, diligently preparing for upcoming examinations. Despite intending to rest briefly after breakfast the following morning, fate dealt a cruel blow.

Upon discovering her unresponsive state in the early afternoon, immediate measures were taken, and Olabisi was swiftly transported to the university clinic, where medical professionals confirmed her passing.

In adherence to protocol, her remains were subsequently transferred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for postmortem analysis to determine the cause of her sudden demise.

The grieving parents of the deceased bid farewell to their beloved daughter, surrounded by family, friends, and members of the academic community, during her burial on April 24, 2024.

As the Aliko Dangote University community mourns the loss of Yahaya Aishat Olabisi, she is remembered as a diligent and bright student whose memory will forever remain in their hearts.
