Police shooting victim not LAUTECH student – Management

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday night, declared that a resident who was allegedly killed by a policeman was not a student of the institution.

PUNCH Metro reports that a police officer allegedly shot a member of the National Youth Service Corps, identified as Iyanda Damilola, to death in the Ogbomoso Local Government Area of the state.

The late Damilola was serving his fatherland in Ibadan, the state capital.

The deceased’s brother, Oluwafemi Iyanda, who graduated from LAUTECH, said his late brother attended his convocation, after which they headed for an after-party the same day where he was shot dead by the trigger-happy cop.

In his reaction, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Akin Fadeyi, disclosed that the incident did not happen within the institution.

“The incident occurred around 2 am. It did not occur in the institution. It happened in a club, and in LAUTECH, we don’t have a club or hotel.

“They were fighting and the student who got killed was not our student. So, what happened had nothing to do with LAUTECH. It has nothing to do with our convocation.

“Information from town was that some people got engaged at a nightclub, far from the university premises, during which one of them got killed,” he explained.
