Osun Amotekun arrests security guard for stealing air conditioners

On Friday, the Osun Amotekun Corps reported the arrest of a 25-year-old man, employed as a private security guard, for allegedly stealing nine air conditioners in Osogbo.

According to Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), the corps Commander, the suspect, Micheal Eze, hailing from Ebonyi State, was apprehended after purportedly selling the stolen air conditioners to scrap buyers in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

Adewinmbi stated that the arrest occurred on Monday following a report by the owners of a house in GRA, Osogbo, where Eze was employed as a guard, that their air conditioners had gone missing.

Upon interrogation, Eze confessed to stealing and selling the air conditioners, valued at N400,000 each, to scrap buyers in Osogbo for a mere N5,000 per unit.

Adewinmbi further disclosed that two of the stolen air conditioners were recovered from the buyers. The suspect has since been handed over to the Director of State Security Service for further investigation and prosecution.

Adewinmbi urged the public to collaborate with security agencies to combat crime by providing pertinent information to prevent its occurrence.
