The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious in the local government election conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission on Saturday.
According to the commission’s announcement in Yenagoa on Sunday, the PDP secured the chairmanship positions in all eight local government areas and won the councillorship positions in all 105 wards.
The main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), boycotted the poll and did not field any candidates.
In Yenagoa Local Government Area, Buloudisiye Ndiwari was declared the winner by BYSIEC’s Returning Officer, Wisdom Soreh, with 56,103 votes.
Similarly, Alice Tangi emerged victorious in Sagbama Local Government Area, declared winner by the returning officer, Prof Abiodun Adelegan, with 51,543 votes.
Golden Jeremiah clinched victory in Ogbia Local Government Area, as announced by the returning officer, Tams Deiduomo, with 42,462 votes.
In Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Target Segibo emerged as the winner with 36,326 votes, according to the returning officer, Ebi Stanley-Udisi.
In Nembe Local Government Area, David Alagoa, the former Commissioner for Agriculture, secured victory with 11,829 votes, declared winner by the returning officer, Prof Festus Akpotohwo.
Lelei Tariye won in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, declared by the returning officer, Prof Apuega Arikawei, with 27,823 votes.
In Ekeremor Local Government Area, Onniye Isaac emerged as the winner with 35,177 votes, declared by the returning officer, Prof Joseph Omoro. Finally, Febo Lucky was declared the winner in Brass Local Government Area by the returning officer, Prof Joseph Omoro.
