Osun female varsity worker dies as container crushes car

A tragic accident unfolded on Wednesday along the Ilesa/Ibodi Expressway in Osun State, claiming the life of a female staff member from the University of Ilesa. The precise identity of the victim remains undisclosed at this time. The incident occurred when a truck transporting a container filled with cashew nuts lost control, causing the container to topple onto the victim’s car. Despite the efforts of bystanders to rescue her, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

The accident generated panic among witnesses as they rushed to aid the victim, whose car was trapped beneath the fallen container. The immediate aftermath of the incident saw a significant traffic jam on the usually bustling expressway, as vehicles involved in the crash obstructed part of the roadway.

According to sources within the university, the victim had concluded her duties on campus for the day and was on her way home when the tragic collision occurred. A senior staff member of the university, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted the harrowing event, expressing deep concern for the victim’s well-being. Despite efforts to extract her from the wreckage, the woman’s injuries proved fatal.

Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun State, verified the occurrence of the accident. Adeleke confirmed the grim outcome, stating that the woman was discovered deceased inside her vehicle.
