Wind storm wreck havoc in Taraba, destroy over fifty houses

Residents of Takum local government council in Taraba State are assessing the aftermath of a devastating windstorm that swept through several parts of the area on Tuesday. The windstorm, accompanied by heavy rainfall lasting several hours, caused extensive damage to numerous houses. Among the areas severely affected within the council are Angwan Rogo and Cameroon quarters, among others.

As of the time of this report, normal business activities have ground to a halt as residents continue to assess the extent of damage to their homes and belongings. Some affected individuals, speaking to our reporter, recounted how the windstorm, followed by heavy rainfall, ripped off the roofs of more than fifty houses.

Appealing for assistance, they urged the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to provide relief materials to aid in their recovery. In response to the situation, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kafes, dispatched a delegation to assess the damage caused by the windstorm. The delegation, comprising officials such as the Commissioner of Ministry of Transportation Development, Yakubu Samaila Yakubu, and the Commissioner of Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, has been tasked with evaluating the level of devastation and providing necessary support to the affected communities.
