FRSC blames speeding as Lagos crash leaves two injured

Two individuals, yet to be identified, sustained varying degrees of injuries in a car crash on the Agbara-Badagry Expressway in Lagos State. The incident occurred around 12:56 pm on Monday and involved a Howo truck with registration number KZR73ZT and a Mazda car with registration number KTU900BK.

FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, confirmed the incident, attributing it to speeding and reckless overtaking. He stated that agency officials promptly responded to assist the victims, who are currently receiving treatment at Badagry Hospital. Farinloye urged motorists to avoid reckless overtaking on the expressway and emphasized the importance of cautious driving.

He said, “The incident involved a Mazda car, and while no fatalities were reported, a male and a female were injured due to reckless speeding and overtaking. Our officers arrived promptly and provided assistance. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital in Badagry for treatment. Although the government has improved road infrastructure on the Mile 2 Expressway, drivers should exercise caution. While it’s impractical to install speed bumps on expressways, motorists should overtake carefully when necessary, and pedestrians should exercise caution when crossing.”
