The Osun State Government Initiates Planting of 100,000 Trees to Combat Climate Change
Osun State’s Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Mayowa Adejoorin, announced plans to plant over 100,000 trees to address climate change challenges.
Governor Ademola Adeleke endorsed the initiative, aiming to plant seedlings in the forest reserve.
Adejoorin emphasized the alignment of the afforestation program with the climate change agenda, highlighting the government’s commitment to tackling environmental issues.
Additionally, the government plans to reintroduce monthly environmental sanitation across the state, starting next month, with the last Saturday designated for the program.
The Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) will play a crucial role, rebranded as Environmental Sanitation Marshalls, responsible for maintaining public cleanliness, starting at the end of this month.
