The Oyo State Police Command announced the arrest of two individuals for possessing a fresh human skull belonging to an unidentified woman in the Amuloko area of Ibadan, the state capital.
The command’s spokesperson, Osifeso Adewale, shared this information with our correspondent through a WhatsApp message on Tuesday.
The arrest of the suspects followed a viral video showing some residents of the state apprehending a man known only as Musa, who was found with a human skull.
It was learnt that residents had become suspicious of the suspect’s unusual behaviour in the area, prompting them to confront him and demand that he reveal the contents of the sack he was carrying.
During the inspection, the residents were filled with shock when they discovered that the man was carrying a human skull.
OyoAffairs, an online news outlet, shared the video on its X.com platform, stating, “Man caught with a fresh human head earlier today in the Amuloko area of Ibadan. He has been handed over to the police.”
The suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of a syndicate that specializes in the sale of human body parts in the state.
In response to the incident, Osifeso informed our correspondent that an investigation had been launched to uncover more details about the crime, confirming that the two suspects were apprehended in connection with it.
“The case is under investigation. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. More updates would be communicated accordingly,” Osifeso simply stated.
A similar incident occurred in the state when the Western Nigeria Security Network, commonly known as Amotekun, apprehended two men for allegedly exhuming the head of a freshly buried corpse in Saki, located in the Saki West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident occurred when the duo was caught in the act and apprehended by the security outfit.
