The Gombe State Police Command has paraded three suspects, including a 13-year-old minor, in connection with separate cases of child rape and sexual abuse in the state.
The 13-year-old suspect, who was paraded alongside 18-year-old Usman Husseini and 45-year-old Mohammed Yaya, allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in Akko Local Government Area on May 22nd.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the 13-year-old suspect dragged the victim to a lonely path and committed the act.
The police received a complaint on May 24th and arrested the suspect after a medical examination at the Specialist Hospital.Husseini, also paraded by the police, allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl in Hammadu-kafi quarters Gombe on May 22nd.
He was arrested after a complaint was received on May 26th and is currently undergoing investigation.Yaya, from Tumu Akko Local Government Area, allegedly defiled a 10-year-old girl on two separate occasions, offering her N100 and N50 each time.
The police received a complaint on May 27th and arrested the suspect after he confessed to the crime.Abdullahi said that the cases are under investigation and will be charged to court for prosecution.
The police spokesperson also emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing rape and other forms of child abuse, citing the Child Protection policy in the state.
