Police arrest man for stealing 23 cows in Gombe

On Thursday, the Gombe State Police Command showcased a suspect apprehended for the theft of 23 cows from Golombi village, located in the Shongom Local Government Area of the state. Adamu Maikudi, a 23-year-old resident of Mai Rana village in Billiri Local Government Area, was presented alongside two accomplices by the state police command.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahid Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer, disclosed that Maikudi had sold the 23 cows belonging to Anchau Maishanu. He further stated that two other suspects involved in the crime were currently evading capture.

According to Abubakar, Maishanu reported the theft at the Pero Chonge Divisional Police headquarters, alleging that Maikudi and his accomplices conspired to steal his 23 cows from Golombi village and subsequently sold them. Following the report, an investigation ensued, leading to Maikudi’s arrest and the recovery of all stolen exhibits.

Additionally, Abubakar paraded other suspects involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, conspiracy, and possession of firearms. Among them were 25-year-old Hassan Danladi, 42-year-old Seth Adamu, and 22-year-old Eli Bulus, who were arrested based on credible intelligence. Danladi was found in possession of illegal arms, including a dane gun, bow and arrows, charms, and armlets, which he confessed to acquiring unlawfully from Adamu and Bulus, both residents of Kaltungo Local Government Area.

Furthermore, Buba Wakili, aged 25, and Babangida Ahmadu, aged 20, were presented following a complaint from Buba Tukur, alleging threats of kidnapping unless he paid a ransom of N1 million. Upon thorough investigation, Wakili and Ahmadu confessed to conspiring to carry out the criminal act.
