Tension as Police kill 2 in Ekiti

In Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, a heartbreaking incident unfolded on Tuesday evening, resulting in the unintended deaths of two young men in the Omisanjana area, the bustling hub of the state capital.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., a mishap occurred, triggering anger among local youths, who sought to retaliate against the involved driver and even attempted to set the vehicle ablaze. Police intervention became necessary to de-escalate the situation.

In a tragic attempt to restore peace, a police officer unintentionally discharged his firearm, fatally striking two young men. Despite immediate efforts, the victims tragically succumbed to their injuries while being transported to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.

Addressing the incident, the Ekiti State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, assured the public of a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The officer responsible for the unintended loss of lives has been disarmed, arrested, and detained pending further disciplinary actions.
