Super Eagles Arrive In Fèz, Morocco For AFCON 2025

Nigeria’s Super Eagles touched down in Fèz, Morocco yesterday to continue their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The squad and their officials departed Cairo early yesterday, concluding their brief pre-tournament training camp in Egypt.
Upon their arrival in Morocco, the Super Eagles were scheduled to hold their initial training session in Fèz later yesterday evening, as their focus fully shifts to the main tournament.
The move to Morocco marks a crucial phase in Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 build-up. Head coach Eric Chelle now has a full complement of players, following the arrival of all invited squad members, including star forward Victor Osimhen.
The three-time African champions have been drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. Eric Chelle’s side will face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their opening fixture next Tuesday, before playing Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on 27th December, and Uganda’s Cranes on 30th December. All of the Super Eagles’ group matches will be played at the Grand Stade de Fèz.
AFCON 2025 holds particular significance for Nigeria, especially after their failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A strong performance in Morocco is viewed as a vital opportunity for the team to rebuild confidence and re-engage with their supporters.
Nigeria last won the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2013, adding to their previous victories achieved on home soil in 1980 and at the 1994 tournament hosted in Tunisia.
