Super Eagles Goalkeeper Nwabali’s Mother Dies Weeks After Father’s Death

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has again been thrown into mourning with the demise of his mother, hardly a month after the death of his father.

The bereaved Nwabali took to social media on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, to announce the devastating news.

The heartbroken Chippa United in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League player, in an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter), Nwabali wrote, “Rip mom,” adding, “worst year of my life already.”

Nwabali had posted earlier, “A very very crazy world indeed”.

The 27-year-old only lost his father just over a month ago, a few hours before the Super Eagles match against Rwanda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification game in November.

The Nigeria’s priced goal tender however did not disclose the details about his mother’s passing.

Nwabali is reputed for his quick reflexes and calm composure between the posts and had earned commendation for his performances with Chippa United where he continues to make his mark in African football.

Football enthusiasts and well-wishers have continued to pour in messages of condolence, offering support to the young goalkeeper during this difficult time.
