Why opposition parties can’t unseat Tinubu in 2027 – Okotete

The Executive Director, Business Development at Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stella Okotete, has expressed confidence that opposition parties will be unable to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

According to the former APC National Women Leader, no alliance between opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, can pose a significant threat to Tinubu’s re-election.

Okotete, in an interview with our correspondent, said that the APC’ has a strong leadership and grassroots support that will propel the governing party to victory in 2027.

She maintained that President Tinubu deserves a second term because he is building a legacy of sustainable development.

The Executive Director lauded President Tinubu for establishing a solid foundation that will lead to a more resilient and thriving economy in Nigeria.

She noted that by addressing deep-seated structural issues and implementing pro-market reforms, the President is driving economic development and improving the overall quality of life for Nigerians.

“President Tinubu is building a sustainable Nigeria. We have always had a Nigeria that comes and goes because the policies are not sustainable. The policies are just policies that will drive either stomach infrastructure for some or political relevance for others. But what President Bola Tinubu is doing currently is that he’s laying a foundation that would create a more robust economy for Nigerians,” she said.

Okotete also commended the Student Loans scheme, which has witnessed the disbursement of over N22 billion in institutional loans to more than 215,000 students within its first year of operation.

This initiative, she noted, has made higher education more accessible and affordable for thousands of Nigerian students.

Describing the scheme as a game changer, she added: “He (Tinubu) has brought in policies that would encourage education of our young people. The NELFUND policy, for example, is one that I applaud him for every time, because that policy alone is encouraging female children, young women, to go to school, because before now, the parents will either choose the male child over their daughters.
