The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the coming governorship election in Ondo State, Otunba Benson Akingboye, has boasted that he would emerge as the next governor.
Femi Akeredolu, younger brother to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has affirmed support for the SDP candidate.
Speaking with reporters in Ibadan, Akingboye said he was determined to lead the state because besides coming from the most populated area in the state, 70 per cent of political structures of former Governor Akeredolu were backing his ambition, which gave him conviction of his victory at the polls.
He said his intention to contest for the governor was not by desperation or looking for a name, but to alleviate the suffering of the people.
Akingboye promised to correct the mistakes of past administrations if elected as governor. He lamented that the Ondo people were suffering, noting that the state would shine again when he becomes the governor.
He said: “I’ve been in the state for the past 24 years, I’m a grassroots person, and my brain is loaded with how the state will develop when I emerge as the governor.”
