The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state on monday inaugurated screening committee ahead of its primary election for the forthcoming local government election in the state.
Chairman of the party, Hon Sunday Bisi while Inaugurating the committee admonished members of the committee to be upright in the discharge of their duties.
He further urged them to ensure that the screening of all aspirants is done in accordance to the PDP constitution and the Electoral Act.
“Without much ado, I respectfully request the chairman and members of the screening committee to carry out your duties in accordance with the PDP constitution and the Electoral Act.
“This, with due respect to your avowed capacity as individuals and experienced party men and women, is to ensure a fair, transparent, and just screening process for all prospective candidates in the forthcoming primary election.
“I charge you to ensure that all aspirants are given equal opportunities to participate and are evaluated based on the established criteria. I also request that you provide clear communication and updates on the screening process to this office and all stakeholders.
“Please be mindful of the opposition’s prowling attempts to exploit any loopholes or irregularities in the process. It is crucial that you remain vigilant and ensure that all actions are taken in accordance with the law and the party’s constitution, to prevent any undue interference or manipulation.
“You need not be told that stability and progress of Osun State also depend on the successful outcome of this process. I therefore, urge you to remain focused and committed to upholding the principles of democracy and fairness, despite possibe external pressures or challenges. I trust in your capacity to deliver on this.”
