President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting is being held at the council chambers of the presidential villa in the federal capital territory (FCT).
The agenda of the meeting was not known at the time of filing this report.
The meeting comes in the wake of the suspension of Betta Edu as the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation over a directive for the payment of funds into a private account.
Edu was a former woman leader of the ruling party.
On Thursday, the APC governors, also known as the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), said the case against Edu “are just allegations”.
Hope Uzodinma, chair of the PGF, said Nigerians should not conclude based on the allegations levelled against the suspended minister.
“The functions of government include encouraging good things and good appointees, and discouraging bad things and bad appointees, the case against Edu is just an allegation,” he had said after a meeting of the PGF.
“And in the wisdom of the president, she is being investigated, it is after the investigation is concluded and the report made available to the government that it will make a final decision.”
The Imo governor added that the PGF is determined to ensure security in the country and provide better welfare for Nigerians.
