2026 budget scales second reading at senate
The Nigerian Senate has passed for second reading federal governments proposed budget estimate of 58.472 Trillion naira, for 2026.
The budget of consolidation, renewed resilience and shared prosperity was laid Friday 19th December 2025 by President Bola Tinubu, before a joint session of the National Assembly.
The bill has been referred to senate committee on appropriation to revert back to plenary in one month.
During the second reading debate of the bill led by the Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele, lawmakers described the estimates as realistic and commended sectoral allocations.
