In preparation for the upcoming 2025 Cultural Day Celebration of the Association of Female Comrades (AFC), scheduled for July 17, the National Vice President of the Association, Lady Comrade Soffiyah Taiwo Lateef — popularly known as Empress — led a delegation on a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Hon. Chief Akintonwa Segun, the Baale of Iteludo Olujobi, in Itori Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The visit, which took place earlier today, was aimed at officially informing the royal father about the forthcoming event and fostering stronger ties between the association and traditional leadership structures.
Speaking during the visit, Lady Comrade Soffiyah stated, “This engagement is part of our broader mission to align with traditional authorities and ensure they are part of our journey to promote female leadership, culture, and grassroots development. The Baale has been duly informed that the event will be held at the FRIN Conference Hall, Jericho, Ibadan.”
Following a productive discussion, His Royal Highness pledged his support and assured the team of his attendance at the celebration. In honour of his exceptional leadership and service to the community, the Association of Female Comrades presented him with a Community Leadership Award of Excellence and formally inducted him as the AFC National Traditional Patron.
“This induction marks a pivotal milestone for the association in building bridges between traditional institutions and female-led advocacy. We are deeply honoured to have His Royal Highness as part of the AFC family and anticipate his valuable contributions,” Lady Comrade Soffiyah added.
The AFC Cultural Day Celebration 2025 is expected to be a landmark event, showcasing Nigeria’s rich and diverse heritage. Highlights of the day will include cultural performances, traditional music and dance, food exhibitions, and networking opportunities for community leaders, stakeholders, and members of the public.
According to the AFC Cultural Committee, the celebration will also serve as a platform for dialogue, unity, and reflection on the importance of preserving cultural values and empowering women at the grassroots.
“With the backing of our esteemed patrons and the dedication of our members nationwide, we are confident this event will be a resounding success. It is a day to reflect, celebrate, and inspire the next generation of women leaders,” the Committee emphasised.
The Association extended an open invitation to the general public and stakeholders to be part of this remarkable occasion.
