Jigawa witnesses first rain of 2025 wet season

Several parts of Jigawa State on Friday witnessed the much-awaited first rain of 2025.

The rain occurred in almost all the local Government and communities, signaling the beginning of the wet season.

In the wake of the rainfall, farmers across Jigawa have wasted no time in preparing their farms for cultivation.

Malam Abbati, a resident of Dutse and a small-scale farmer, said he had already cleared his farm and was waiting for the rain for planting.

He said the first rain came early, compared with previous years.

Garzali, a resident of Ringim, said the rain caught him unaware as he didn’t clear his farm land because the rain was expected to start later in June.

“I didn’t expect rain this month that is why I did not prepare my farmland”
