
Anew pontiff has emerged following rounds of election by cardinals.
This was announced by the white smoke pouring out of the Sistine Chapel chimney on Thursday.
The White smoke signals the cardinals have elected a new pontiff, who polled two-thirds majority of votes.
The election of the 267th Pope which commenced on Wednesday featured 133 cardinals from across the globe as electors, following the burial of Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who passed on Easter Monday aged 88.
