15 suffer burns as gas explosion rocks Ijora

Fifteen persons, including adults and children, have suffered varying degrees of burns in a fire incident caused by a 25kg gas cylinder in a mini shop within a bungalow building consisting of 15 self-contained rooms and seven shops.

The incident happened at No. 12, Amosu Street, Ijora Badia, Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos.The fire was ignited by gas leakage from mishandling of products attracting a nearby flame before resulting in an explosion.

A few of the victims have been administered first aid along with others who have been taken to the hospital. Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) said that none of the cases was life-threatening.

In response to the incident, the Sari Iganmu Fire Station of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service was complemented by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and others
