Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke has sympathised with the Anglican Bishop of Osun Diocese, Rt. Rev Folusho Babatunji and the entire Church over the fire incident that gutted a segment of the Church in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Guardian gathered that the fire razed down a section of the church, destroying some spiritual objects of worship and other interior property. The church leaders and members have been counting their losses.
But Governor Adeleke, in a statement issued yesterday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, expressed his pains on the damage caused by the incident on the place of worship, saying he is devastated by the thought of loss that the inferno wreaked on the Church’s building.
The governor called for increased alert on the part of the public to help curb the incidences of fire outbreak in the state, noting that fire outbreak is a menace that requires collective effort to stop.
While commending the swift intervention of the rescue team, particularly the Fire Service and emergency workers to the scene of the fire outbreak, Adeleke pointed out that their quick response prevented further spread of the inferno and ensured that no life was lost.
“I condole with the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev. Dr Folusho O. Babatunji over the fire incident that torched a part of the Church, situated in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Monday.
“It is painful to hear about the devastating damage of the fire, especially as it leaves a segment of the Church ravaged and unusable any longer.
“This is heart wrenching, and I want to convey my sympathy and that of the Government of Osun State to the Church and the Bishop, who may have suffered personal losses as a result of the incident,” the governor said
