The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has distanced itself from an ongoing investigation involving Andrew Torhile Uchi, Personal Assistant to the Secretary to the Federation, George Akume, for alleged bribery, money laundering, and corruption.

Uchi was reportedly arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being linked to a N10 billion money laundering scandal.

He is also accused of using stolen public funds to illegally acquire properties across several Nigerian cities, including Abuja, Jos, Makurdi, Gboko, and Wannune in Tarka, Benue State. The value of these properties is estimated at N6 billion.

It was also alleged that Akume tried to secure an administration for Uchi but was unsuccessful.

It noted that it has always maintained a “strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity.”
