A general view of Dangote Petroleum Refinery Petrochemicals in Lagos.Dangote Refinery has refuted claims that it is shutting down the facility for maintenance.
The organisation also noted that the refinery is new and requires no immediate maintenance.
Some reports had disclosed that a section of the refinery, precisely a 204,000 barrels of gasoline per day unit would be shut for 30 days for maintenance.
The reports alleged that the shutdown has been scheduled to tentatively begin on June 1.
But the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, described the report as “outright falsehood.”
The Dangote Refinery, regarded as the world’s largest single-train refinery, is capable of processing about 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Last month, the Head of the refinery, Edwin Devakumar, told Reuters that the refinery could begin operating at full capacity of 650,000 barrels per day in 30 days.
This will be in the next eight days as the statement was made on 10th of February.
The company charged the public to disregard information about purportedly shutting down the facility, noting that such information was being pushed by blackmailers
