Leading collective management organisation, the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN), has officially commenced operations in Ibadan.This development, which is part of MCSN’s expansion programme, is expected to bring relief and empowerment to musicians, music publishers, and other stakeholders in the music industry in the city and other environs in Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States.
The new shop which will serve as the Southwest regional office is situated on Adamasigba Road in the centre of the city. It started with an intensive training session for the newly recruited staffs of MCSN on Monday, March 3
The sessions were handled by the Chief Executive Officer of MCSN, Mr. Mayo Ayilaran and other experienced and top brains in copyright administration who are expected took the new staff through a rigorous training regime that covered all aspects of copyright administration especially licensing and enforcement.
Speaking on the development, Ayilara said the goal of MCSN is to cover the federation by at least opening 20 offices nationwide before 2027. “We have already started operations in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano states, while the Edo and Delta states’ agencies will metamorphose into a full blown regional office shortly. We shall surely meet our target of twenty offices nationwide by 2027,” he said.
