Portable bows to pressure, surrenders to police

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself to the Lagos State Police Command days after he was declared wanted.

He presented himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, marking a significant development in the case against him.

Following his surrender, Portable is now being escorted to Ogun State, where he will be transferred into the custody of the local police.

This comes after a surprising claim by the singer on Tuesday, in which he alleged that he was undergoing treatment for mental health issues at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta, and even referred to himself as a “madman”.

The singer’s claim of being a “madman” was part of a plea for leniency, directed at both the Nigerian public and the Ogun State Government, after he was officially declared a wanted person by the police.

The wanted declaration stemmed from allegations that Portable had physically assaulted three staff members from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, specifically from the Ota Zonal Office.
