Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has accused celebrities of distracting Nigerians from the current realities in the country.
The statement comes amid the announcement that Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, aka 2Baba, has split from his wife, Annie, after 12 years of marriage.
2Baba had announced that he and his wife, Annie, had gone their separate ways after 12 years of marriage.
In a now-deleted Instagram post on Sunday, the singer revealed that they had been separated for a while and that he had filed for divorce.
However, Inibehe, in a post on his X handle on Monday, described the development as a distraction.
He said: “There is no week that passes in Nigeria without us being distracted by celebrities. Controversies upon controversies.”
