The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring healthy living as part of his five-point agenda, despite prevailing economic challenges.
Governor Adeleke disclosed this at the official flag-off of the 4th Imole Free Medical and Surgical Outreach, held at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.
According to the governor, “One of the major achievements of my administration is the Imole Free Medical and Surgical Outreach program. Since its inception, this initiative has provided life-changing care to over 50,000 people. Many of these individuals could not afford treatment and had lived with their conditions for years.
“This program has become a lifeline for the masses, offering fast and accessible medical and surgical care to those in need. Public feedback indicates that people eagerly await each new round of this program.”
Governor Adeleke further announced that this edition of the outreach would take place across six zones in the state: Osogbo, Ilesa, Iwo, Ikirun, Ife, and Ede. He urged the residents of Osun to take full advantage of the program, adding that medical experts in various specialties were on hand to cater to their needs.
In his welcome address, the Coordinator of the Imole Medical and Surgical Outreach, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle, described this edition as unique, noting that it is part of the celebration of the administration’s second anniversary. Dr. Adekunle highlighted additional interventions included in this edition, such as dental services, cervical cancer screening, and breast examinations for early detection of breast cancer.
Dr. Adekunle also outlined the schedule for the program at six state hospitals across Osun:

• Iwo: January 14–15, 2025
•. Ilesa: January 21–22, 2025
•. Ikirun: January 28–29, 2025
•. Ife: February 4–5, 2025
•. Ede: February 11–12, 2025
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Barr. Jola Moses Akintola , expressed gratitude to Governor Adeleke for his unwavering support and commitment to advancing healthcare in the state. He noted that the governor’s investments in the health sector have yielded significant results, with Osun State being recognized as one of the best-performing states in healthcare in 2024. He also recalled the governor’s recent accolade at the Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge in Abuja, where Osun was ranked the best in the Southwest region.
A beneficiary of the outreach program, Prince Olaegbe Olatoke Gbadamosi, who underwent eye surgery, expressed appreciation to the governor for bringing the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun. He urged residents to support Governor Adeleke in future elections to sustain the progress.
In his vote of thanks, the Chief Medical Director of UNIOSUN, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, commended Governor Adeleke for his support and active presence at the event.
