The 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto and the Federal Road Safety Corps on Sunday, played a novelty football game to promote synergy between the two security agents.
Speaking shortly after the football match which ended 1:0 in favour of the host, the Eagle of the Nigerian Army, the Acting General Officer Commandings 8 Division, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, pledged to strengthen their ties beyond a friendly football match.
Ajose emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong relationship and working synergy between the Nigerian Army and FRSC for effective service delivery.
Ajose, represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff Administration of the 8 Division, Colonel C.C Nnogwu, noted that the relationship between the military and FRSC should extend beyond the football match.
“I urge the personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Federal Road Safety Corp to maintain a strong relationship with each other, not just in football matches”
He, however, called on other sister security agents in the state to feel free and make use of the sporting facilities in the Gingiya Barracks for their routine exercise
The army chief said robust and effective collaboration among security agencies would go a long way in achieving success in the fight against terrorists operating in the northwest.
He commended the Federal Road Safety Corps for initiating this friendly football match is he said was in line with the programmes of the Nigeria Army aimed at promoting tactical collaboration in the fight against banditry.
Also speaking, the Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corp, MaiKano Abdullahi, emphasized the significance of participating teams in every contest to promote synergy.
Abdullahi expressed his pleasure in inviting the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, to participate in the friendly football match, aimed at boosting synergy among sister security agencies in the state.
He assured that more events would be organised in the future to promote cooperation among security agencies.
Also, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing Rabah Constituency, identified as Zakari, praised the military’s gesture in promoting harmony and working synergy among security agencies in Sokoto State.
Zakaria, who is also the chairman of the football association in the state said the state football association is working on a plan to expand the novelty match to involve all the military and para-military agents in the state.
