Enugu LG chair tasks new councillors on quality representation

Chairman of Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Uche Michael Ogalla, has charged the new elected councillors in the local council to approach their duties in a manner that would not jeopardise the needs and aspirations of those they represent.

Ogalla gave the charge during inauguration of the councillors at Ogrute, the local government secretariat recently.

He congratulated the councillors on their successful election and urged them to reciprocate the gesture by working assiduously as a team to achieve the sustainable policies and programmes of the Enugu State Government as well as the transformation agenda of lgboeze North Local Government.

He told the leader of the council, Ali Omeke Celestine, and his colleagues that as grassroots leaders, they should guard and monitor the government’s projects and ensure that contractors deliver quality jobs.

He also appealed to the councillors to collaborate with traditional rulers and community leaders to make available 10 acres in each of the 20 wards for the planned agricultural revolution in the local council.

He described the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, as a visionary leader and pacesetter, whose disruptive innovation philosophy has remained unprecedented.

He noted that Mbah’s vision for quality education and healthcare for Ndi Enugu was demonstrated through the smart schools projects and ultra modern health facilities being constructed in all the urban and rural areas across the state.

In his response, the leader of the council, Celestine, commended the chairman for the successful inauguration and pledged on behalf of the other councillors, to live up to their responsibilities.

Dignitaries present at the occasion included Igboeze North chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Solomon Ogili, his deputy, Joe Abah, Chief of Staff, Odumu Fidel and Secretary of the local government, Eya Onyekachi, among others.
