Osun monarch not a warmonger, says media aide

The Alapomu of Apomu in the Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Kayode Afolabi, has denounced the claim of a newspaper columnist, describing him as a warmonger for the Peoples Democratic Party.

He was reacting to an opinion on Friday, titled, “Apomu King turns war monger for PDP.”

The columnist had faulted a viral video of Alapomu during a PDP empowerment event in his domain, describing it as both repulsive and shameful.

However, the monarch, in a statement issued by his media aide, Tolu Adetunji, described the article as biased, prejudiced, subjective and one-sided, adding that it was not based on facts.

“Oba Afolabi is not a warmonger but a man of peace. The article is a biased, prejudiced, subjective, one-sided opinion which is not based on facts but on a video which the king has refuted in many national newspapers and online publications.

“The rebuttal was made shortly after the video went viral nearly a week ago,” the statement read,

Afolabi, in the rebuttal to the video, said it was doctored to discredit him.

“Anyone who wants to do a story or write an opinion on the video should be fair and objective by balancing the story with the king’s official response to the video,” the statement added.
