Missing man found dead near Ogun stream

A 35-year-old man, Felix Vhimga, has been found dead in a mysterious circumstance in the Ojowo area of Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the deceased had gone missing after visiting his brother, Sunday Robert, in the community on Monday.

On the completion of his visit, Vhimga was however said to have bid his brother goodbye at about 9 pm.

Robert who raised the alarm about his whereabouts, said he could not reach home the next day since he left his house.

A police source who spoke to our correspondent as he was not permitted to speak on the matter said Robert later launched a search for him.

The source said after efforts to locate his whereabouts proved abortive, Roberts rushed to the police station to make a report.

He said, “Sunday Terkuma Robert, brother of the deceased, reported to the police that Felix visited him on November 11 and left around 9 pm. However, when Felix couldn’t be heard from the next day, Robert searched for him. It was after he could not locate him that he came to the station.”

The police source however revealed that the corpse of the deceased was later found near a stream in the community.

The body, according to the source, was discovered at about 7 am with a wound on the forehead close to the left eye.

“The body was discovered around 7 am on November 13 with a wound on the forehead, close to the left eye. A team of policemen inspected the scene, evacuated the corpse, and deposited it at Alayangbe Private Morgue for autopsy.”

The case was said to have been transferred to the State CriminaI Investigation Department, Ijebu Igbo.

“Investigation is ongoing into the incident,” the source added.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, could not be reached as calls made to her telephone were not responded to. A text message sent to her had yet to be replied as of the time this report was filed.

PUNCH Metro reported that a three-man armed gang shot two people dead in the early hours of Monday, while two others sustained bullet injuries in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola, in a statement released on Monday, explained that the incident occurred at about 12:30 am in the parking lot of Diamond Dumplings, GRA, Abeokuta.

She stated that three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA licence plate, demanding the car keys.
