Civil servants without residency registration won’t get Nov salary – Kwara

The Kwara State Government has promised to stop the salary of public sector workers who have not registered for the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency with effect from November 2024.

A statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru, said workers in the state without valid KWSRRA numbers would not receive salary or bonuses from November.

The PUNCH reports that the registration exercise started in July.

The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency is empowered by law to have relevant data on every resident in the state and allocate unique identities to each person for effective planning, resource management, service delivery, and public safety, among others.

A statement signed by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Babatunde Abdulrasheed, on Monday, said “In line with the administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency in resource administration, a directive had since been issued, mandating all state employees, including those across the 16 local government areas, to complete their registration with KWSRRA.

“Effective November 2024, workers who have not registered will not receive salary payments or bonuses.

“The KWSRRA registration is a vital step toward establishing a comprehensive and accurate database that enables us to serve Kwara State residents more effectively.

“Ensuring that every state worker is registered strengthens our payroll system, enhances service delivery, and builds trust in our processes.”

The statement quoted the commissioner as saying that the initiative would play a key role in resource management and planning within the state.

“The integrity of our data impacts all our financial and administrative systems. A complete database helps us make informed decisions, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure that every eligible worker is compensated fairly and accurately,” it added.

All state employees who had not yet registered were urged to promptly visit the nearest KWSRRA registration centre to complete their enrolment.

“By following this directive, Kwara State is working to establish a more efficient and equitable system for its workforce and residents alike,” the commissioner stated.

In another development, the government has set aside two days, Wednesday, November 13 and Monday, November 18, for workers who missed the previous KWASRRA registration to register.

According to a statement signed by Mrs Oyawoye Olabisi on behalf of the acting General Manager of KWASRRA, all categories of workers who missed the previous registration should report at the Banquet Hall opposite the Government House for registration during the scheduled days.

“The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency hereby wishes to announce to all categories of civil servants in all Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), those in SUBEB, TESCOM and Local Government Staff who missed the registration exercise conducted by the agency at the Banquet Hall, Opposite Government House, Ilorin, between 29th July 2024 and 4th September 2024, that there is going to be a mop-up exercise for them as scheduled: Day I: Wednesday, 13th November 2024. Day II: Monday 18th November, 2024.

“All affected staff are to note that the venue for the two-day mop-up exercise is the Banquet Hall, Opposite Government House, Ilorin, starting from 10.00 am each day.”
