Nigerian lady sets new dance record at Silverbird dance-a-thon

Twenty-seven-year-old Lilian Madubulum from Anambra State has set a new Silverbird marathon dance record, dancing continuously for an impressive 55 hours and 49 minutes at the recently concluded Silverbird World of Records Danceathon.

According to a statement shared with PUNCH Online on Thursday, Lilian emerged as the winner, surpassing 24 other competitors in the intense dance marathon.

The statement said that her exceptional display of confidence, determination, and resilience secured her the top position.

This achievement breaks the previous record of 55 hours and 40 minutes, set by Kafayat Shafau, known as Kaffy, in 2005 at the Silverbird/Nokia Danceathon, a feat recognised by the Guinness World Records.

For her record-breaking performance, Lilian received a cash prize of 1 million naira.

When asked about her motivation, she said, “I wanted to prove wrong those who underestimated her due to her non-athletic physique.”

The Chief Creative Officer of Silverbird Group, Jacob Akinyemi Johnson, congratulated Lilian on her historic achievement, saying, “Lilian’s remarkable feat showcases her talent, resilience, and our platform’s mission to discover and showcase exceptional Nigerian talent globally.”

“We celebrate Lilian’s triumph and look forward to witnessing her continued success. Her achievement inspires countless Nigerians, demonstrating that determination and hard work can achieve the impossible,” he concluded.
