Ex-CDS, Ibrahim loses wife

The wife of former Chief of Defence Staff and former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim, Aminat, has passed away.

Ibrahim served as Chief of Naval Staff from 2010 to 2012 and as Chief of Defence Staff from 2012 to 2014.

His wife passed away in Abuja on Tuesday night after a brief illness. Aminat is expected to be buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites.

The Alumni Association of the National Defence College, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed her death.

The association also called on its members, veterans, and the community to extend their condolences to Admiral Ibrahim during this time of loss.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajuun. With a heavy heart, we relay (as announced by the family) the passing of Mrs. Aminat Dupe Ibrahim. The late Aminat was the wife of Admiral OS Ibrahim, former CNS and former CDS. According to the family, she passed away last night (on 5 November 2024) after a brief illness.

“Survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren, her Janazah (funeral) prayers will be held today, 6 November 2024, at 1330 hrs at the National Mosque, Abuja. Burial follows immediately at Gudu Muslim Cemetery, Apo, Abuja.

“The AANDEC Community, veterans, and others are kindly requested to support the bereaved Admiral in this time of family grief.

“May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Al Jannah Firdaus. May Allah grant the bereaved Admiral the fortitude to bear this loss,” the association said.
