The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed it re-arrested controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, in Lagos.
The anti-agency said the crossdresser has been flown to Abuja to face its team of investigators.
Confirming Bobrisky’s rearrest, EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale reportedly said: “We arrested him last night and we took him to Abuja because our team of investigators are in Abuja. He was trying to run away from mentioning those he said collected bribes from him. We sent him an invitation but he refused to honour our invitation and he was trying to leave the country.
“This was why we arrested him. We want him to come and mention the names of the officials involved in the bribery but he has not shown up.”
The crossdresser was on Thursday night removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration officers while attempting to leave the country.
The social media personality shared the incident on Instagram to alert followers, stating that he sustained injuries during a confrontation with the officers.
He, however, alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) orchestrated his detention.
He wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
Earlier, social commentator Isaac Fayose, the brother of a former Ekiti State governor, shared a photo of himself and Bobrisky as they boarded the same flight.
He wrote: “Look who’s on the same flight with me to London, @Bobrisky222,” Fayose shared on his Instagram handle.
Moments later, a viral video seen on X, showed Bobrisky being removed from the flight.
Bobrisky’s troubles started on October 22 when he was stopped at the Seme Border while allegedly trying to flee the country.
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began in April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for Naira abuse.
Although assigned to Kirikiri Prison, rumors surfaced that Bobrisky was relocated after three weeks, allegedly in exchange for a ₦15 million bribe.
