The Kano State Hisbah Board has declared Auwal Danladi Sankara, the suspended Jigawa Commissioner for Special Duties, wanted after he allegedly failed to comply with his bail conditions.
This was made known on Monday by the Hisbah Commander General, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa.
Sankara, who was granted bail on the understanding that he would appear before the Hisbah command whenever required, was summoned for reconciliation proceedings earlier on Monday.
However, his refusal to show up led to the board’s decision to seek his arrest.
“The reason we invited him today was for reconciliation,” Daurawa stated.
The statement read, “The complainant had agreed to reconcile with Sankara for the sake of his two children. We scheduled the meeting accordingly, but his absence has now violated the terms of his bail.
“Had he appeared today, we would not have taken him to court tomorrow,” Daurawa continued. “As Hisbah members, Islam is our guidance, and it encourages reconciliation. However, by all indications, he does not want reconciliation, so we will proceed with legal action.”
“Despite the fact that we arrested him together with someone’s wife, she even injured five Hisbah personnel with her car while trying to escape from us. We have videos and evidence of all this. I personally called him several times today, and he confirmed that he would come. But later, he switched off his phone. Now he is wanted, and our people will arrest him wherever they see him,” Daurawa added.
However, after the press conference, the complainant, Nasiru Bulama, explained that the commissioner initially agreed to reconciliation because he has two sons with the woman and did not want to embarrass them. But since Sankara refused to attend the reconciliation, the matter will now proceed to court.
“I want justice,” Bulama said.
