Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, on Tuesday, charged the Edo State governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo to fulfill his electoral promises to the people of the state.
Oba Ewuare II gave the advice when Okpebholo and the deputy governor-elect, Dennis Idahosa, visited his palace in Benin City to show the Oba their Certificates of Return.
The traditional ruler, who expressed confidence in the ability of the Governor-elect to deliver good governance, thanked God, his ancestors, security agencies and President Bola Tinubu for a peaceful and successful poll on September 21.
He said, “God works in a mysterious way. As you have said to me, remember this palace is open to you.
“You will do your best to carry out the promises you made during your campaigns, and more blessings will come.”
The Oba also said he would continue to pray without ceasing ahead of the forthcoming Emoro, also known as the New Yam festival and his eighth coronation anniversary.
Earlier, Okpebholo thanked the monarch for his prayers and assured that he and his deputy Governor-elect would do their best to ensure fulfilment of their promise to the people.
